Japan supplier registry check

Check a list of Japanese suppliers against Japan's official registers, and get the evidence in English.

Send us a list of Japanese suppliers, either numbers or just names. We match each row to a company in Japan's official registers and send back one Evidence Pack (working name). For every matched company it shows what the registers published, the source, and the data date.

Who it is for

The job it saves

Without this, someone on your team usually has to:

  1. open two Japanese-language government sites, the National Tax Agency's Corporate Number site and its Qualified Invoice Issuer site, and search them one supplier at a time;
  2. work out which registered Japanese name matches a name typed in English or romaji in your vendor master;
  3. check whether the T-number was in force on each invoice date, not just today;
  4. notice closures, mergers and renames, and find the successor company;
  5. save screenshots or notes as evidence for an auditor.

We do steps 1 to 4 for the whole list and hand you step 5 as files.

What you send

What you get: the Evidence Pack (working name)

One folder (also as a zip) per order:

FileWhat it holds
report.html / report.pdfthe readable report: one section per company, plus the rows we could not settle
results.csvone line per input row, in one fixed format, with your reference echoed
companies/<corporate number>.jsonone record per matched company (see sample data)
held_rows.jsonrows held for your review, with the top candidates and the reason
BOUNDARY.txtwhat the pack shows and what it does not (the text below)
HOW_TO_VERIFY.md, verify_pack.pyhow to check the pack yourself, offline
manifest.jsonthe SHA-256 fingerprint of every file, so any later change can be detected

Every row ends in one of four states: matched, held for review (we show the candidates and why; we never guess), not found, or rejected (for example a number that fails the official check digit).

For each matched company the pack shows:

Example: our 12-row sample list (public companies plus two deliberately broken rows; run on 2026-10-14 from local copies of the public data): 7 matched, 3 held for review, 1 not found, 1 rejected, 5 observations. See sample data for what one company record looks like.

What we show, and what we do not

What the pack shows

What it does not show

Shareholders. Only the major-shareholder tables (大株主の状況) that EDINET filers include in their securities reports, as filed. This is not beneficial ownership (UBO). Individual shareholders are never named.

Matching. Where a row gave a name instead of a number, the match is our determination under published rules. Rows we could not determine uniquely are listed for your review and never guessed.

This pack is not an official certificate of registered matters (登記事項証明書), not a credit report, and not tax, legal or compliance advice.
